The entire Hindi film fraternity - from Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan to Farhan Akhtar, Sanjay Gupta and Pritish Nandy - feels that joining hands against the multiplexes over revenue sharing is bound to yield a solution soon.
This is what they have to say:
Farhan Akhtar: We make films for viewers and do realise that this deadlock between the producers and the distributors may inconvenience them. Therefore every member of our association the United Producers & Distributors Association (UPDA) felt it most important that cinegoers should be informed of our grievances with the mutiplexes. Cinegoers should understand that producers and distributors are justified in their stand. What we seek will also benefit cinegoers.
Subhash Ghai: On April 7, I was very proud to see solidarity within our fraternity. They made their point with so much dignity. I hope a solution is found so that both the producers and the multiplexes are able to share the benefits. We should not forget that it’s finally one industry.
Ritesh Sidhwani: The united forum for producers is one of the best things to have happened to us. I feel tackling the multiplexes is now so much easier since we’ve come together as one united body for the first time. In fact, the next project for the UPDA is to combat piracy. And we intend to go at it full-throttle by first banning illegal screening of new releases on cable television. But first we hope to come to a semblance of solution about the multiplexes in the next couple of days.
Mahesh Bhatt: The coming together of the fraternity in spite of the differences within is our greatest achievement. It has silenced those who said that the film industry is an army of generals who can never join hands to take on these bullies. The road ahead is hard. But there’s a do or die resolve within our fraternity. It will carve a happy ending.
Sanjay Gupta: The UPDA meeting on Tuesday achieved a never-before show of solidarity among the fraternity. The mutiplex owners have no choice but to agree to our demands which are just and correct. The solution finally is delayed and not denied.
Pritish Nandy: A solution is inevitable and will happen soon. Both sides have time on their hands now, what with the IPL (Indian Premier League) and elections both of which will grab increasing mindshare in the coming weeks. After that the pressure to hammer out an equitable and responsible solution will be immense on both sides. The yin cannot kill the yang.
Madhu Mantena: I think after a long time we were able to send a message across that as a collective industry we stand united on the issue. As both the moviemaking and the multiplex industries are interdependent, a quick solution is inevitable. When mutiplexes were incepted with Fame Adlabs, we were on the same revenue share wavelength that producers are asking for now. So I don’t think it’s unreasonable for the multiplexes to agree to our demands. This Friday-to-Friday haggling between producers and multiplex owners has to stop.
Satish Kaushik: Though I was not present in the meeting that gathering showed the solidarity among producers. No solution has come yet. But it would have to for the sake of the audience. Everyone is a little relaxed right now because of the IPL.

Australian pop sensation, Kylie Minogue was in India for just a week but she has ruffled quite a few feathers. The latest is that she refused to meet superstar Shah Rukh Khan. After the rousing welcome given to Kylie in India, she soaked in the attention, but only for a while. Hindi Movie Review: Ghajini Aamir Khan
The story of Ghajini was based on the old and much used concept of short term memory loss faced by Aamir Khan in the movie. However, It had its own unique charm of a different narrative. A new approach to retell the story of revenge. It all fits well, how Aamir and Asin met, the chemistry, the charisma and the comedy is fun to watch. How Asin is killed and how Aamir khan prepares himself for vengeance and helps himself with tattooing himself to remember everything which he forgets. The songs are great; one becomes speechless when it comes to the cinematography. No one can have relevant criticism when it comes to the way Aamir khan movies pay attention to every detail in each and every scene. Every minor detail is given high importance which is rarely found in Bollywood movies but we always find it in Aamir Khan’s production.
Talking about the movie I believe that other than Aamir Khan all of the characters were merely supporting characters even Asin because the whole story revolves around Aamir Khan. Even if there was someone else in place of Aamir Khan then I would say that the movie would have had 60% chances of being a flop. The power packed performance of Aamir Khan made the movie blockbuster which it is today. Of course majority of the audience was here to see Aamir Khan marvelous body which he had to workout on for three months straight and I mean a heavy workout!
Other than that the movie rating is for everyone but parents should watch out when the naked rage takes over the movie as it is harmful for children. A social activist requested the Supreme Court to have the movie rated as adult rating. As a result a few scenes were removed from the movie but still the movie does have some disturbing scenes and parents should watch out.
Even though it had disturbing scenes and OK story line but still critics and the audience came out with huge smiles on their faces after the first show and almost everyone gave compliments. The movie truly speaks for itself by doing a business of 200 crores in the first two weeks and making itself a truly blockbuster, breaking all records of 2008 and opening new boundaries and new challenges for our Bollywood industry. I would not want to rate the movie as it is just a remarkable piece which adds up to the list of Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par and Jaane tu ya Jaane Na but just for official records

Of course how can we forget the six pack, we all can see the competition and Aamir really won that one flawless. One thing which no one realizes is that the competition between these two Khans is from the start. Yes, competition is healthy but we are talking about a personalized competition and it clearly shows when we see Aamir claiming in an interview that King Khan was “scared” to work with him.

Bollywood's bikini girls: Bipasha, Kareena, Priyanka
Not everyone can carry off a bikini well. In Bollywood, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Priyanka Chopra are the stars who do it with panache thanks to their attitude and confidence, say fashion experts.
While Kareena wore a lemon bikini for Tashan and became the talk of the town for her size zero, Priyanka slipped into a sexy golden swimsuit for Dostana.
"Kareena and Priyanka carried off their bikini act in their respective movies pretty well because they had the right attitude and confidence to carry off the two-piece with aplomb. They were sure of their bodies as well as the way they were looking on the camera," ace photographer Dabboo Ratnani said.
"Both of them have great bodies and are neither too thin, nor too plump. They have perfect voluptuous bodies which looked perfect in the bikini," he added.
According to Mumbai-based celebrity designer Gavin Miguel, Bipasha rocked the big screen when she wore a bikini in Dhoom 2.
"Bipasha really took the audience by surprise with her bikini act in the movie. She looked hot, sexy and very confident. The best part about her is that she has got a well-proportioned body and so a two-piece looks good on her," said Miguel.
"Priyanka too has the oomph factor. Even though she is not that tall, the way she looks and carries her swimsuit is commendable. You just can't take your eyes off her," he added.
Jacques Heim and Louis Reard invented the two-piece beachwear, which turns 63 this year, in 1946. The designer duo named it after the Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands, the site of the atomic bomb testing.
As far as Bollywood is concerned, the bikini has surely come of age over the years with actresses opening up to the idea of wearing sexy swimsuits on screen.
In 1958, Nutan took the Hindi film industry by storm when she wore the swimming costume in Dilli Ka Thug. Her colleagues like Saira Banu and Vyjayanthimala too scorched the silver screen when they slipped into the costume for April Fool and Sangam respectively.
Later, Bollywood beauties like Sharmila Tagore, Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi dared to wear the two-piece on screen, but actresses after them shied away from the swimsuit. However, Dimple Kapadia, who slipped into the two-piece for Raj Kapoor's Bobby, wore it again for her comeback film Sagar.
Now, it is no more taboo and actresses like Bipasha, Neha Dhupia, Minissha Lamba and Amisha Patel have carried off tiny two-pieces with confidence.
Miguel also feels these actresses should be applauded as they have overcome the hypocritical mindset of society and proved that even a two-piece suit can be carried with grace if you have the body and confidence.
Ratnani points out that photographers too play a pivotal role in deciding how a bikini looks on a woman.
"The persons shooting these actresses play a pivotal role because if they don't bring in their creative aesthetics together to click their pictures, the result could be disastrous. A photographer or a camera person can either make a picture or scene look natural, classy or vulgar," Ratnani stressed.
"Small things like light arrangements, right lenses, background location and camera angles also play an important role in bringing out the best from these beauties," he added.
According to photographer Jatin Kampani, there should also be a "comfort level" between the actresses and the camera person shooting her in a swim-suit.
"While shooting a female in a bikini, one should have a great rapport with that person. She has to share a comfort level with the photographer... only then there would be no inhibitions and she too will be comfortable on screen," Kampani explained.
Kampani said that he would never recommend clicking an actress in a bikini if she is not in shape.
"She will look awful," he exclaimed.
Kampani has no Bollywood favourites but says most of them have got great bodies.
"But the most important factor is how effortlessly they carry their two piece. Not everyone can carry it with aplomb. One has to be comfortable with one's body; only then things do magic on screen."
